Black Mascara (Oil-in-Water Emulsion)

This formulation is a stable emulsion and with moisturizing properties because of propylene glycol.

Veegum HV granules                               0.55

Disodium EDTA                                       0.05

Triethanolamine 99%                              0.50

Lecithin                                                 0.20

Methylparaben                                        0.30

Propanediol                                            10.00

Phase B
Black iron oxide                                      9.00

Phase C
D5 cyclomethicone                                  4.50

DC5225C formulation aid                         0.90

White beeswax                                      7.25

Carnauba wax #3                                   3.50

Stearic acid, triple-pressed                      1.80

Glyceryl monostearate                            1.80

Polybutene                                           3.50

Phenoxyethanol                                     1.00

Propyleparaben                                      0.20

PVP/eicosene copolymer                          4.00

Stearyl alcohol                                       1.80

Procedure:
Mix all ingredients of phase A until smooth. Add phase B to A and mix until homogenous. Heat batch to 75°-80°C. In a separate pan, mix all ingredients of phase C and melt to 80°-85°C. Slowly add phase C to the batch and stir for 15 minutes at 75°C. Then paddle mix the batch at 45°C. Cool further to 35° while stirring. Pour into mascara tubes or bottles.
